A first half Delon Lanferman blitz propelled Alpha ‘the Hammer’ United to a 4-0 drubbing of Mocha- based unit Riddim Squad when the pre-season friendlies continued on Wednesday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground in Bourda.
Lanferman recorded a hat-trick in the rout as he scored in the 25th, 32nd and 39th minutes while Dwain Jacobs commenced the lopsided encounter with a 13th minute strike.
Wayne Dover, head coach of the Alpha United setup said “It was a really excellent performance, the plans we had for the game I think it was executed near perfectly. There was good defensive organization which I was impressed about because we worked extensively on that”.
According to Dover “The offensive pattern, we had a few sessions on it thus far and I was impressed by the way they executed on the night. In total summary, the performance was excellent. There are still a few things we have identified on the night that we have to go to the drawing board and try to ensure that is corrected”.
“So in the next couple of the sessions, we will focus strongly on the areas that we need some work. More importantly we will be working extensively in the latter stages of the preparation on finishing and set plays”, he added.
With their previous encounter ending in a scoreless draw, Jacobs broke the deadlock 13 minutes into play, racing onto a lofted ball over the defensive line before lobbing his shot over the advancing custodian.
Lanferman then took over the contest 12 minutes later, finishing past the keeper from within the box after collecting a squared pass from Dwight Peters, following a team passing combination.
The matchup ballooned to 3-1 as Lanferman grabbed his double, directing a clinical header into the back of the net after latching onto a cross from Peters.
The score line was sealed six minutes before the end of the first period as Lanferman claimed his hat-trick, running onto a long ball before rounding his marker and firing past the keeper from within the box.
