The Commissioners of the Walter Rodney Commission of Inquiry paid a visit to the Attorney General, Basil Williams, at the Attorney General’s Chambers today,a release from the Attorney General’s Chambers said.
The Commission is comprised of Chairman Sir Richard Cheltenham of Barbados; Seenath Jairam S.C. of Trinidad and Tobago and Jacqueline Samuels-Brown Q.C. of Jamaica. It was established over two years ago to hold an inquiry into the death of Dr. Walter Rodney. The final sitting of the Commission was held on July 27, 2015. The Commissioners have returned to Guyana to conclude their report which is to be submitted to President David Granger on February 8, 2016.
The release said that the Attorney General facilitated a tour of the location where the Commission of Inquiry into the Public Service was held to determine whether this is more suitable for the Commissioners needs than the Commission’s former location at the Supreme Court. The Commissioners elected to remain housed at the Supreme Court.
