Ballistics expert Sergeant Eon Jackson took the stand again yesterday when the trial of the five men accused of the robbery of Justice Nicola Pierre and her husband, Mohammed Chan, resumed.
Daymeion Millington, Nicholas Narine, Premnauth Samaroo, Warren McKenzie, and Anthony David, are on trial for robbing the judge and her husband of cash and articles amounting to over $3.6 million, as well as shooting at security guard Ron Peters, all on July 9, 2015.
The trial resumed yesterday at the Better Hope Community Centre, where sittings of the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court are being held.
Jackson returned to court to identify his markings on the spent shells that were recovered from the scene of the crime at Montrose, East Coast Demerara and to tender into evidence his ballistics report.
At the conclusion of his testimony, he was not cross-examined by any of the accused. Narine and Samaroo are both represented by attorney Adrian Thompson, but he was not present yesterday.
Meanwhile, special prosecutor Nigel Hughes said the testimonies of witnesses are expected to conclude next Monday and a voir dire will commence afterwards.
The proceedings were subsequently adjourned by presiding Magistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul, until Monday.
