Gary Primo, who is wanted by police for questioning over the disappearance of national footballer Ronson Anthony Williams and Carlos Anderson, is suspected to be overseas.
Stabroek News had erroneously reported that suspect Primo, called ‘Gary Talkout,’ 40, had been held last Friday.
However, the man in custody is a businessman.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum had told Stabroek News that the initial detention period for the businessman was Monday but the High Court granted an extension.
Last Thursday, the police issued a wanted bulletin for Primo, whose last known address is Lot 44 King Street, Republic Park, East Bank Demerara, for questioning over the abduction of Williams and Anderson.
This newspaper was told that investigators believe Primo had fled the country.
Williams, 28, a national football player and member of Alpha United football team, and Anderson 20, a carpenter, disappeared on September 10, last year.
Desiree Carter, Williams’s mother, had recently told this newspaper that the last time she spoke with her son was September 10, when he went home to collect some clothing and left to go to football. The mother said as she saw her son off, she noticed Anderson in the back seat of the car in which they drove off together.
Meanwhile, Carmelita Pestano Anderson, the mother of Anderson, had said that days after the men went missing
someone went to her home and told her that Williams had given her son some money to keep and he was there to collect it.
However, the woman said she told him she was not aware of any such transaction. She stated too that she was not aware of her son’s friendship with Williams.
