(The Sports Xchange) – Highlights of Monday’s National Basketball Association games.
Hawks 112, Mavericks 97
Led by point guard Jeff Teague’s season-high 32 points, the Atlanta Hawks ended a three-game losing streak with a 112-97 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
Teague shot 12-for-15 from the field, posting a season-best total for field goals made, and made a career-high five three-pointers. Teague added eight assists and five rebounds and came up two points short of his career best.
Pistons 105, Nets 100
Andre Drummond collected 21 points and 18 rebounds for his league-leading 40th double-double and the Detroit Pistons blew a 10-point lead before recording a 105-100 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
Drummond reached 20 points for the 18th time by shooting 10-for-15 from the floor. His biggest shot was an easy dunk with 90 seconds remaining that broke a 98-98 deadlock.
Cavaliers 111, Pacers 106 (overtime)
Kyrie Irving scored eight of his team-leading 25 points in overtime on Monday as the Cleveland Cavaliers rallied to defeat the Indiana Pacers 111-106 in Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
LeBron James, who added 24 points and 12 rebounds, gave the Cavaliers (35-12) the lead for good with 1:37 remaining in the extra period, and two Irving free throws pushed the Cleveland lead to 107-104 with 43.2 seconds to go.
Thunder 114, Wizards 98
Kevin Durant scored 28 points to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 114-98 victory over the Washington Wizards at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Durant shot nine of 18 to go with nine rebounds and four assists. Serge Ibaka added 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Enes Kanter came off the bench to score 14 points.
Grizzlies 110, Pelicans 95
Mike Conley keyed a 10-0 fourth-quarter run with a go-ahead three-pointer and a no-look assist to Marc Gasol to lift the Memphis Grizzlies to a 110-95 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans at Smoothie King Center.
The Pelicans led 86-84 with 7:02 left, but Conley nailed a long-range jumper to put Memphis up for good, 87-86. After a New Orleans miss, Conley drove the baseline, was fouled by Toney Douglas and made both foul shots.
Spurs 107, Magic 92
LaMarcus Aldridge scored a season-high 28 points as the San Antonio Spurs shrugged off a lackluster performance in the middle two quarters and held off the Orlando Magic 107-92 to keep their home unbeaten streak intact.
The Spurs fashioned a 15-2 run over a span of 3:37 that encompassed the end of the third quarter and start of the fourth to wrest away Orlando’s short-lived lead.
Nuggets 112, Raptors 93
Nikola Jokic had a career night with 27 points and 14 rebounds and the Denver Nuggets snapped Toronto’s 11-game winning streak with a 112-93 win over the Raptors.
Jokic, a rookie, set season highs in points and rebounds.
Jazz 105, Bulls 96 (overtime)
Forward Gordon Hayward scored a team-high 27 and had a big overtime session to lead the Utah Jazz to a 105-96 victory over the Chicago Bulls.
Hayward, who missed a game-winning jumper at the end of regulation, scored eight points in overtime to help the Jazz improve to 22-25. Hayward added 12 rebounds and seven assists as Utah earned its first three-game winning streak of the season.
Kings 111, Bucks 104
Forward Rudy Gay scored 32 points, and guards Rajon Rondo and Marco Belinelli added 19 and 18 points, respectively, to give the Sacramento Kings a 111-104 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks at Sleep Train Arena.
The Kings held Milwaukee to 39 second-half points and used an 18-11 spurt late to end a four-game losing streak and earn a rare win without center DeMarcus Cousins.
Cousins missed his first game since Nov. 28 after suffering a sprained left ankle in Sacramento’s 121-117 loss at Memphis on Saturday. The Kings (21-27) won for only the second time in nine games without him.
