Rose Hall Town Jammers gained a walkover from Canje Knights when the Berbice Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) sanctioned Anamayah Memorial Basketball Championship continued Sunday at the Ithaca Basketball Court.
The Jammers claimed the win after Knights was unable to take the playing area with the required number of players to commence the matchup.
Two other teams secured wins Fyrish Black Sharks and Ithaca Hard-Liners.
The eight-team event will continue Sunday at the refurbished New Amsterdam court.
In the lone matchup at 16:00hrs, Smithfield Rockers will match skills with home side New Amsterdam Warriors.
The event, which is to be played initially in a round-robin format, will see the eight teams divided into two groups. Group-A will consist of Fyrish Black Sharks, Rose Hall Town Jammers, Canje Knights and Rose Hall.
Group `B’ comprises Ithaca Hardliners, Hopetown Steelers, Smithfield Rockers and New Amsterdam Warriors. Following the conclusion of the group stage, the group winners and runners-up will progress to the knockout round
The eventual winner and runner-up of the tourney will walk-away with cash incentives and the corresponding trophies while an award will be given to the Most Valuable Player (MVP).
