PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC– Captain of lowly ranked Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, Jason Mohammed, says he wants his side to finish among the top three in the WICB Professional Cricket League (PCL), Regional four-day tournament set to resume next weekend.
Mohammed, who led Red Force to Championship honours in the NAGICO Super50 tournament last month, says he is bent on carrying this winning momentum into the longer format.
Red Force are in fourth position with 37 points, scoring only one win, losing three matches and drawing one.
The 29-year-old right-handed batsman says he is also aiming to achieve some personal milestones including two centuries in the second half of the PCL.
“It’s tough for us to win the tournament (four-day) but hopefully we can place in the top three,” Mohammed said in an interview with Newsday.
“We have about five games ahead of us and I hope to at least score about two centuries and two 50s”.
Trinidad and Tobago Red Force take on front runners Guyana Jaguars at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence on February 12.
Red Force retained the NAGICO Super50 title with a crushing 72 run win over the Barbados Pride last month.
They played most of their matches without the services of their leading players including 2015 championship captain Rayad Emrit, ace wicketkeeper/batsman Dinesh Ramdin, all-rounder Kevon Cooper and left-handed batting star Darren Bravo, due to international duty.
“I have been having consistent performances over the past two years,” recalled Mohammed.
“Achieving success at the Regional Four-Day level would help me record three good years in a row.”
