Once completed, the Merriman’s Mall Recreation Park will feature among its facilities a petting zoo, according to plans released by City Hall on Thursday.
At a press conference, Town Clerk Royston King explained that the project, which is expected to cost “hundreds of millions,” is one of several which are expected to create green recreational spaces for the city’s children.
According to King, despite the fact that a petting zoo exists within the National Zoological Park, City Hall sees a place for the zoos it intends to establish, which will also serve as a means of necessary revenue for the city.
Other projects include a renovation of the Promenade Gardens.
It is the city’s intention to refurbish the benab located in the gardens, restart all the fountains and install a petting zoo.
