Two Albouystown residents appeared before a city court on Friday charged with wounding and inflicting harm on each other.
It was alleged that on January 25, at Callender Street, Albouystown, Romaine Retemeyer, 19, unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Jagdesh Ramnarine.
Retemeyer, a miner of Lot 47 West La Penitence Housing Scheme, pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was represented by attorney Darren Wade.
Ramnarine, 44, was also read a charge when he made an appearance before the court on Friday. Ramnarine, represented by attorney Kalam Azad Juman-Yassin, entered a not guilty plea to the charge that he, on January 25th, at Callender Street, Albousytown, wounded Retemeyer with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable, or cause him grievous bodily harm.
The bail applications by the attorneys were not objected to by prosecutor Deniro Jones, who told the court that both defendants live in the same community.
The two men were placed on a bond for good behaviour until the end of the trial by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, who also granted them bail in the amount of $50,000 each and adjourned the matter to March 1st.
