An innings of 95 from opener Avishka Fernanda helped Sri Lanka U19s defeat England U19s by six wickets and advance to the semi-finals of the International Cricket Council’s U19 World Cup competition in Bangladesh.
Batting first England U19s scored 184, all out in 49.2 overs with Callum Taylor 42, Ben Green 26 and George Bartlett and Sam Curran with 25 runs each, the principal scorers.
Leg spinner Wanidu Hasaranga was the pick of the bowlers with 3-34.
In reply, Fernando and fellow opener Kaveen Badara who scored 22, put on 76 in just about 14 overs while Charith Asalanka added 34 as Sri Lanka reached their target with 15 overs remaining.
For England, Saquib Mahmood, Mason Crane and Dan Lawrence each picked up a wicket.
