Dear Editor,
Is there an explanation for why there is a vast difference in the educational standards of my two grandsons (born a week apart). One attends a private school and the other a public school in Georgetown. Both (of course) are in the same grade at present, ie, Grade 1.
One can read well, the other cannot. One works with a time-table, the other does not. There is recorded work in the case of the one at the private school, while for the same week, there is just one language subject recorded in the case of the other.
There needs to be a serious look at what is being done in many public schools.
At the end of the Grade 6 Assessments all expect to see results allocating their children to the top secondary schools. Parents be aware.
Schools should pull their weight or pull out.
Yours faithfully,
M Smith
