Dear Editor,
On Thursday 6th February, 2016 a visit was made to Region 2 by Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, Minister of State Joseph Harmon and the Minister of Citizenship Winston Felix and of course other senior ministry officials.
The last stop was at Aurora, where the crowd was more than expected, considering the short notice. The Prime Minister’s visit to this region was the third in about two months, and must be an indication of the interest he has in the welfare and development of the people of Region Two. My understanding is that he has been visiting other regions as well.
As for Minister Felix, who has responsibility for all immigration related issues, especially at this time when a lot of foreign nationals are entering and leaving our country through various port of entry and exit, his visit can be seen as a timely one. A promise was made by him to have the Immigration Office decentralized, and the local office in this region process more applications of various types.
As for Minister Harmon, he has delivered on the promise he made on the 10th January, 2016 to a group of persons he met at Tiperu Water Falls, a popular tourist resort in the Mazaruni River by donating $250,000 for installing street lights in the village of Aurora. The residents of this community and all those who visit from time to time, by this letter express their gratitude for his personal donation, because light is security and prosperity. It also has to be mentioned that at the said meeting a portion of land was promised for the use of a play park for children by Mr Farouk Khan, a resident of this community and a former member of parliament.
Yours faithfully,
