National Under-15 batsman Kevlon Anderson struck a match-winning century for Lower Corentyne Secondary who beat Port Mourant Secondary by 102 runs in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Digicel/ Banks DIH National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) tournament.
Played at the Port Mourant ground, Anderson notched up an unbeaten 103 with 15 fours, which took Lower Corentyne to 163 for 4 in 20 overs.
Keith Simpson supported with 29. Port Mourant, in reply, folded for 61 in 12.4 overs.
Ezekiel Kempadoo took 4-11 and Simon Naidoo 3-13.
Lower Corentyne has now booked their place in the final and will await the winner of the Skeldon Line Path Secondary and Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary game.
Meanwhile, the first match of the Combined Elite leg of the competition commenced recently with Mahaica playing Mahaicony at Fairfield ground.
Batting first, Mahaicony scored 109/5 in 25 overs. Wendell Fordyce top scored with 49 while Shaquille Weekes claimed 3-17 bowling for Mahaica, who, in reply, raced to 114/4 in 18 overs courtesy of Phillip Doodnat’s unbeaten 43.
Matches continue tomorrow as Georgetown’s winner, Chase Academy, faces East Coast Demerara winner, Annandale Secondary, at the Everest Cricket Club ground, Camp Road. In the Corentyne Zone, the second semi-final will be played between Skeldon Line Path Secondary and Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary at Port Mourant ground.
