Eleven contestants will vie to be the Calypso Monarch when the finals are held on Friday.
The semi-finals of the annual competition, held on Saturday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground in Linden, saw the field narrowed to 11 contestants, who will take the stage this Friday at the Banks DIH Thirst Park ground in Georgetown
According to Mashramani Secretariat coordinator Lennox Canterbury, making their way to the final stage are the current reigning Calypso Monarch Manoel ‘King Perai’ Pereira, reigning Junior Calypso Monarch T’Shanna Cort, Roger ‘Young Bill Rogers’ Hinds, Lester ‘De Professor’ Charles, Lassell ‘The Mighty Duke’ Duke, Camille ‘Lady Tempest’ Goliath, Abigail James, Martin Byrne, John ‘Ras Marcus’ Marcus, Daria ‘Dairy Queen’ Barrow and Kenroy ‘Might Believer’ Fraser.
In addition to the titleCalypso Monarchy, the contestants will also be competing for a $700,000 cash prize and a trophy.
