Mohammed, 34, of Coverden was crossing the East Bank Highway in front of her work place, Prairie Hotel, when she was killed.

An eyewitness had claimed that a Toyota Hilux had just turned out of the yard and onto the road about a hundred feet away from where the accident happened. While the Hilux was driving south towards Mohammed, a speeding Toyota Fielder tried to overtake the Hilux, hitting Mohammed and crashing into the Hilux.

However, the police had stated that the Fielder crashed into the Hilux which then spun out of control, hitting Mohammed.

Relatives had said that while they knew both of the drivers, the driver of the Hilux was known as a careful person while the driver of the Fielder was known as a “wild oats” as he would often speed.

Stabroek News was told by the relatives that the file on the matter is with the Director of Public Prosecutions.
