A contractor is currently nursing a gunshot injury to his right leg after he was attacked and robbed of $250,000 just before paying his employees at Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
The incident occurred around 9 am yesterday at Middle Street, McDoom, during which Houdini Gordon was shot to his right leg. He was taken to Balwant Singh Hospital where he remains a patient.
Stabroek News understands that Gordon and his employees were at a building currently under construction at McDoom and he was about to distribute their weekly wages when three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun entered. They proceeded to hold Gordon and his employees at gunpoint and demanded the cash.
However, Gordon put up a fight and he was shot to the leg after which the bandits made good their escape.
It is suspected that the men may have received inside information that Gordon usually paid his staff on Saturdays.
An investigation has been launched.
