An excavator operator yesterday shot and killed his ex-girlfriend before turning the weapon on himself at Kartabo, Cuyuni River
Dead are Terry Alexander, 22, and Glenda McCurdy called Natoya, 19, a health worker of Kartabo Point.
The police said in a press release that investigations into the murder/ suicide which occurred around 15:00 hrs yesterday revealed that the couple who shared a relationship, had a domestic argument during which McCurdy was shot by Alexander. He later turned the weapon on himself.
A .22 pistol has been recovered by the police.
According to reports, McCurdy, who had ended the relationship some time ago, was walking home with her mother, Beverly McCurdy. They were confronted by Alexander, who after making accusations, whipped out a firearm from his pants’ waist and shot McCurdy in the chest. He then proceeded to lash her mother in the face with the weapon. However, she managed to escape and ran to seek help at which point Alexander shot himself to the head.
The couple had been scheduled to get engaged when the relationship ended.
