Dear Editor,
The Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) wishes to respond to Lydia Persaud’s letter which was published in the February 21, edition of the Guyana Chronicle under the caption, ‘Please investigate the Post Office.’
In her letter, Ms Persaud stated, “Now, what I don’t understand is that persons have applied [for certificates] since November last year, and when they visit, all they keep hearing is that the certificate is being processed.”
Kindly be advised that the Post Office does not process birth, death and marriage certificates. Such certificates are processed by the General Register Office which is located on the third floor of GPOC’s Headquarters, Robb Street, Georgetown. The Post Office accepts applications and delivers mail on behalf of the General Register Office.
Yours faithfully,
Telesha Whyte
Public Relations Officer
