BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Test left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican has recovered from injury and is the only change to the Barbados Pride squad for their eighth round clash in the Regional first class championship against Jamaica Scorpions Friday, in Kingstown.
The 23-year-old played in the Regional Super50 in Trinidad and Tobago but is yet to feature in the four-day tournament since it resumed earlier this month, because of injury to his spinning finger.
His return comes at the expense of the uncapped fast bowler Keon Harding who was called up for the last round clash against leaders Guyana Jaguars.
With left-spinner Sulieman Benn and off-spinner Ashley Nurse away on West Indies duty, Warrican’s presence will strengthen the Pride’s line-up.
Warrican made his Test debut last October and has since played four Tests.
Pride lies second in the standings on 90 points, 17 points adrift of defending champions Jaguars on 107 points.
They missed a chance to close the gap in the last round when they were held to a draw, after setting the visitors 405 for victory at Kensington Oval.
Scorpions, meanwhile, suffered their second straight loss when they went down to Trinidad and Tobago Red Force by eight wickets in Kingston.
SQUAD – Kraigg Brathwaite (captain), Shamarh Brooks, Jonathan Carter, Roston Chase, Kyle Corbin, Miguel Cummins, Shane Dowrich, Justin Greaves, Shai Hope, Omar Phillips, Kevin Stoute, Hayden Walsh Jr, Jomel Warrican.
