A Cummings Street, Alberttown resident was yesterday remanded to prison after it was alleged that he robbed a mother and her daughter of over $300,000 worth of items in an attack on Republic Day.
It is alleged that on February 23, at Hope Street, North Cummings-burg, Calvin Accra, 20, stole a Samsung smartphone, a silver purse, a cream set and $4,000 from Karen La Fleur. He also allegedly stole an iPhone from her daughter, Julia Mackey. The items were valued at $334,000 in total.
Accra pleaded not guilty to the charges after they were read to him by Magistrate Allan Wilson at a Georgetown court.
The prosecution objected to bail, while noting that Accra has another matter pending in a different court. As a result, Accra was remanded to prison until today for statements.
