Minister in the Ministry of Social Protection, Keith Scott has expressed satisfaction with the working environment at the recently opened Teleperformance Call Centre at Robb and Camp streets in Georgetown.
He made the assessment during a tour of the operations on Wednesday.
According to a release from his ministry, Scott said that the emoluments paid to employees and the working conditions comply with local labour laws.
“I am encouraged by the opportunities they are providing for continuous training to staff,” he said after a meeting with the Vice President, Operations, Dr. Dale Dan and other staff. The release said that there are about 45 permanent staff at the facility and another 250 persons are in training. By the end of the month, it is expected that a further 250 persons will begin training. At capacity, the company says it will employ 1500 persons.
The release said that the meeting saw discussions on issues of mutual interest such as the importance of adherence to local laws, safety and health at work and opportunities for investors in Guyana.
Dan said “We are looking forward to this strong partnership that was established here today where we can work closely with our Ministry of Labour to ensure that Teleperfor-mance becomes a Premier organisation in Guyana when it comes to best practices.” Teleperformance has been providing customer care services for leading companies throughout the world since 1978.
