Rape accused Linden Isaacs yesterday walked out of the High Court a free man after a jury unanimously found him not guilty of raping an eight-year-old girl.
The charge against Isaacs was that on May 28, 2013, he had carnal knowledge of the child.
He had denied the charge of rape of a child under 16 years when the indictment was read to him at the commencement of his trial.
Isaacs appeared visibly relieved when Justice Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, who presided over the matter, announced that he was free to go.
The 12-member jury returned its verdict after about two hours of deliberations.
The state was represented by prosecutors Tuanna Hardy and Stacy Goodings. Meanwhile, Isaacs was represented by defence attorney Leslie Sobers.
The trial proceedings were held in camera.
