Silver Shattas suffered their first defeat in the Upper Demerara Football Association First Division League, losing to Topp XX 1-0 on Friday at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground, Linden.
Tyric McAllister separated the teams netting in the 35th minute. With the win, Topp XX remains at the top of the standings with 16 points while Silver Shattas remain in second position with 12 points.
Meanwhile Amelia’s Ward Panthers squeaked past High Stars 3-2.
Jermaine McBean gave High Stars the lead as he netted in the fourth minute. Ray Bobb Semple then levelled proceedings scoring in the 42nd minute.
Panthers then took the lead as they netted upon the resumption in the 46th minute. However, High Stars equalised in the 57th minute as Marley Major found the back of the net.
Nonetheless, Panthers secured the hard fought contest in the 87th minute as Andel Norville etched his name on the scorer’s sheet.
Action in the event is billed to continue today at the same venue with another double header. In the opening fixture at 18:30hrs, Eagles will oppose Blueberry Hill while Milerock will tackle Federal Winners Connection in the feature contest from 20:30hrs.
