Caricom Secretary-General Irwin LaRocque has been reappointed for a new five–year term.
This decision was taken at the Twenty-Seventh Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community which was held at Placencia, Belize on 16-17 February 2016.
LaRocque’s second five-year term will go up to August 2021.
The Heads, according to the communique from the meeting, also agreed on a limit of two terms for secretaries-general.
“In the context of the ongoing reform process, Heads of Government agreed that there would be a limit of two terms for Secretaries-General of the Community,” the communique said.
