Royals Youths and Attention Family (RYAF) were amongst the winners when the inaugural Guyana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) National Championships recommenced on Sunday at the Bayroc Beach Facility in Linden.
Blueberry Hill based unit Royals Youths brushed aside East Coast of Demerara unit Buxton Youth Developers 5-2 while fellow Linden unit Attention Family overcame Soesdyke Highway based unit Kuru-Kururu Warriors 4-2.
In the other results, Linden outfit High Stars defeated Georgetown giants West Front Road via walkover while in the all Georgetown affair, Sparta Boss secured a victory against Alexander Village via the identical route.
In the battle of the Linden teams Cool Runnings defeated Silver Bullets after the latter failed to take the playing area.
Action in the championship is slated to continue on Sunday with five programmed matches. The championships will be contested in a two round format over an 18-day period.
Matches will be played every Sunday at the Bayroc Community Centre Beach Soccer facility and at Kuru Kururu on the Linden Soesdyke Highway.
Winner of the event will receive the championship trophy and $250,000 while the second, third and fourth place units will collect the respective accolade and $100,000, $75,000 and $50,000 correspondingly. Other sponsors of the event include E-Networks and 104.3 FM (Linden).
