The wife of Jermaine Jerrick, who was accidently shot and killed by his alleged accomplice during a robbery last week, has been released on station bail.
The woman was arrested after information had surfaced that she allegedly facilitated the escape of the shooter after the attack. With police not in a position to lay any charge against the woman, she was let go on station bail. A source confirmed her release.
Jerrick, 35, was one of the two men who allegedly held up Arif’s Service Station last week Thursday at Onderneeming, West Coast Berbice, and robbed three pump attendants of $80,000.
The police had said that during the attack, the man armed with a gun discharged a round to scare the victims but instead struck his accomplice, Jerrick, to his head. He was later pronounced dead on arrival at the Fort Wellington Hospital.
The shooter then stole a car from a customer and escaped. The car was recovered a few villages away the following day and ranks of the Guyana Police Force’s Crime Scene Unit had dusted it for fingerprints in hopes of identifying the shooter.
Investigators continue to hunt for the suspect.
