A third suspect in the murder of Regent Multiplex Mall owner Ganesh Ramlall was yesterday arrested by the police after he was implicated by two others who are currently charged with the crime.
This was confirmed by a source close to the investigation, who told Stabroek News that Christopher Erskine, called “Banana,” 35, of Section ‘C,’ Block ‘Y,’ Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was arrested at Hadfield Street, Georgetown yesterday.
Ramlall, the owner of the Regent Multiplex Mall, located at the corner of Regent and Wellington streets, had just returned home around 12.20am on July 5, 2015, when he was shot at least seven times, including once to his head.
Two men, Faizal Bacchus, 21, a taxi driver of Lot 7 Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara and Lennox Roberts, of 2279 Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo were charged with Ramlall’s murder.
These two men were arrested after a party of police officers from the SWAT team swooped down at a house at Craig, East Bank Demerara and arrested seven persons after a confrontation last July.
