The newly elected executive of the North Ruimveldt Multilateral Secondary School Old Students Association (NRMSSOSA) has pledged to work on several areas that would see the school’s facilities upgraded.
According to a press release, the executive members, who were elected on Saturday last, conducted a tour of their alma mater—fondly called ‘Multi’—on Friday and observed that there were several areas in dire need of physical improvement.
As a result, the release said, the executive gave a commitment to resurfacing the basketball court at the back of the school’s auditorium and installing a basketball hoop.
Noting that the wooden flooring of the building had been removed and the current conditions do not augur well for the safe conduct of indoor sport, the executive said also it will undertake to reinstall a wooden flooring.
In the Home Economics Department, the touring old students noted that the flooring is concrete and not conducive to the activities—including teaching of food preparation—carried out therein. They have therefore also given a commitment to having this area tiled, the release said.
Meanwhile, following discussions with school officials, the former students also undertook to: aid in the acquisition of qualified coaches for all sporting disciplines; aid in the improvement of the Drama Department and engage parents and teachers in hosting a mega-fair during or after this year’s 50th anniversary of independence celebrations.
The release said the new executive is headed by President, Dexter Wyles and includes Vice President, Orin Walton; Secretary, Alecia James Patterson; Treasurer, Hazel Nurse;
Assistant Secretary, Christopher Matthias; Assistant Treasurer, Beverly Mitchell; Committee Members: Deborah Dodsoncoulthrust, Julia Mckenzie, Minsodia Fenty and Reitta Roberts Dandrade and Public Relations Officer Ivor Thompson.
