Former champions Lodge Secondary along with losing finalist Dolphin Secondary and Bishops’ High sealed their berths to the quarterfinal round when the 4th Annual Milo Schools u-20 Football Championship continued yesterday.
Played at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, former winner Lodge Secondary downed North Ruimveldt 3-1.
Shamar Smith netted a brace in the eighth and 10th minutes while King Frank netted in the 27th minute.
On target in the loss was Matthew Harrison in the 46th minute. Meanwhile, Dolphin Secondary defeated Richard Ishmael 4-1.
Shawn Mohamed, Leon Richardson, Ryan Dowding and Carl Lynch scored in the 17th, 30th, 57th and 65th minutes respectively.
Tamiel Hudson netted in the loss in the 33rd minute.
Bishops’ High edged St. Rose’s High 1-0, with a Lloyd Anderson 75th minute penalty kick conversion into the top left hand corner being the game winner.
In other results, Queen’s College defeated Tucville Primary 6-5 on sudden death kicks after normal and extra time ended score less.
The round of 16 stage is billed to continue today at the same venue with another four matches.
In the opening fixture at 11:00hrs, Christ Church will oppose Queenstown Secondary while St. John College will lock horns with North Georgetown at 12:30hrs.
In the third fixture at 14:00hrs, Mae Secondary will oppose South Ruimveldt Secondary while Chase Academy will battle Kingston Secondary in the final fixture at 15:30hrs.
Upon the conclusion of the final round, the event will progress to the round of 16 stage. Winner of the event will walk away with the championship trophy and $500,000 towards a school project.
On the other hand, the second, third and fourth place finishers will receive $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 correspondingly towards the funding of a school initiative and the respective trophy.
