A Guyanese man is among four held in New York over the killing of a man, according to westchester.news12.com.
Tejmitra Singh, a Guyana native, was charged last week with felony assault and weapons possession. He and three others were allegedly in the car when a gunman fired at Yonkers baseball prospect Michael Nolan and struck him in the head at a Yonkers McDonald’s last year.
Prosecutors were successful in their bid to have Singh’s passport confiscated because of his overseas connections, the report said.
Courtroom sources say 19 of Singh’s relatives attended the hearing in a show of support. His parents own a business in Westchester.
A judge set cash bail at US$350,000, but set bond at just US$35,000. If his family comes up with the money, Singh can go free until trial, the report added.
Singh has a prior conviction of reckless driving from 2013, according to court records.
