ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC – Jamaica finished their preliminary round campaign without a win after they were beaten 1-0 by Mexico, in the CONCACAF Under-17 Women’s Championship here Tuesday.
Jacqueline Ovalle’s 41st minute strike settled the contest at the Grenada National Stadium, ending Jamaica’s hopes of rescuing at least pride in their final game of the competition.

They finished bottom of Group B without a single point while Mexico finished second on six points behind group winners United States on nine points.
Costa Rica finished third with three points.
Jamaica managed to keep the powerful Mexicans at bay until just moments before half-time when Daniela Espinosa’s pass set up Ovalle who finished with aplomb from just outside the area.
Neither team could get on the scoresheet over the remaining 45 minutes.
The loss was Jamaica’s third in the competition following a heavy 8-1 defeat to the United States and a 3-2 defeat to Costa Rica.
In the other game played at the venue, United States beat Costa Rica 2-0.
In Friday’s semi-finals, Mexico will now clash with French Caribbean side Haiti while the US take on Canada.
