Sherwin Lynch, who was stabbed to death on Wednesday night, is believed to have been fatally wounded during a robbery attempt.
Lynch, 19, of Sparendaam Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was found dead on Wednesday evening along the Railway Embankment Road with three stab wounds about his body. He pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
His companion was arrested after he was reportedly found in possession of one of Lynch’s valuables. He also had a stab wound to his hand.
Stabroek News understands that the man’s companion told investigators that he and Lynch were walking in the area when Lynch saw another individual who he decided to rob. It was during the attempt that the individual whipped out a pair of scissors and dealt Lynch three stabs about his body. The man claimed that he attempted to intervene and thus sustained a single stab wound to his hand.
Lynch’s sister had told this newspaper that she last saw him around 5 pm on Wednesday, when he left her Sparendaam home to go to their neighbours’. She said that around 8 pm, she received a call from someone who informed her that he had been shot, but on arrival at the hospital she learnt that he was actually stabbed.
