The police have to take action on noise nuisance in the event of a breach of the law

Dear Editor,

Please allow me to respond to the letter in your paper of Friday, March 11 captioned ‘LBI-Better Hope NDC has not addressed a range of problems’. If Mr Mike Persaud is the same person who saw me when I was going to a cricket match that involved the Better Hope Cricket Club, and was asking a lot of questions about noise, music, drains, etc, I would like to state the following:

  1. That person was clearly aggressive in his attitude and in a very polite way, I tried not to respond to him.
  2. Noise nuisance is the responsibility of all, but it is the police that have to take the legal action in the event of breaches of the law.
  3. I am always in the community, and on many afternoons I am at the community centre with the youths. I am available to meet with anyone who can assist us in the community.
  4. I give my time freely to assist in the development of the community; can Mr Persaud come and assist us?
