Former President Bharrat Jagdeo’s sister was this afternoon found dead in a house on his property at Pradoville 2 on the East Coast of Demerara.
Fifty-seven-year-old Oma Jagdeo, was found dead in the house her brother had built for her on his property, by her two children.
Oma Jagdeo worked with her brother as his home assistant from the time he moved into the home many years.
The two shared a very close relationship, friends close to them said.
Jagdeo said that he was not aware if his sister was suffering from any medical conditions at the time of her demise and did not want to speculate on the cause of her death at this time.
Police sources told this newspaper that foul play has been ruled out.
The former President abandoned his local government outreach rallies in Leguan and Wakenaam this afternoon after news of his sister’s death and rushed home.
