The Ministry of Public Infrastructure yesterday advertised for major rehabilitation of interior airstrips including the Eteringbang Airstrip in Region Seven at an estimated cost of $79.8m.
Aviation operators have long called for repairs to interior airstrips. Eteringbang is also seen as pivotal to national defence needs.
According to an advertisement in yesterday’s Sunday Chronicle, the other airstrips which are to be done are Kato in Region Eight at $69.7m, Annai in Region Nine at an estimated cost of $67.6m, Paramakatoi in Region Eight at $43.3m, Kopinang in Region Eight at $41.7m, Kurupung in Region Seven at $39.2m and Monkey Mountain in Region Eight at $31.9m.
Bids have to be submitted by April 5, 2016 to the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board.
