Construction company S.A. Nabi and Sons Limited is in receivership.
A notice in yesterday’s Sunday Stabroek said that a Receiver/Manager has been appointed by the High Court for the company.
All correspondence/communication relating to the company should be addressed to the Receiver Manager, S.A. Nabi & Sons Ltd –in Receivership at Maurice Solomon and Co., 92 Oronoque St, Queenstown, Georgetown.
For a number of years two factions of the company had been in court.
The court battle among the brothers company ended in May, 2011 when the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) restored a Guyana High Court judgment ruling, which had confirmed the appointment of one of the brothers’ sons as a director on the board.
In 2004, Justice Rishi Persaud had ruled that the appointment of the son of Aslim Sheermohamed as a director of the board of the company was in order, throwing out the challenge that was mounted by two other Sheermohamed brothers, Amin and Azeez, through the company. However, the Court of Appeal later overturned that decision and ruled that the appointment of the son was unlawful.
The court battle continued and it was taken to the CCJ which ruled on May 23, 2011.
