John Pilbean, Australia High Commissioner designate recently paid courtesy calls to two sports organisations the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) and the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB).
According to a release from the GOA, Pilbean met with GOA president KA Juman-Yassin, vice presidents, Dr. Karen Pilgrim and Noel Adonis, secretary, Hector Edwards and council member Gokarn Ramdhani, to discuss the 2018 Commonwealth Games, which will be held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia from April 4-15 2018.
On Friday Pilbean paid a courtesy call to the GCB where he “engaged a high level delegation of GCB executives in wide-raging discussions on the upcoming ODI tri-series featuring West Indies, South Africa and Australia,” the release from the GCB stated.
The GCB delegation, headed by president Drubahadur, also included vice president Fizul Bacchus, secretary Anand Sanasie, marketing manager Raj Singh, competitions chairman Colin Europe and TDO Colin Stuart, the release added.
The first leg of the ODI series which commences in June will be played at the Providence National Stadium and the matches are; Australia versus South Africa June 3rd, West Indies versus South Africa, June 5th and West Indies versus Australia June 7th.
“The gathering had fruitful and wide ranging discussions surrounding the logistical and security arrangements and other pertinent issues regarding the Australia team stay whilst in Guyana. The GCB is eager to host Australia, South Africa and West Indies teams and is confident that Guyanese will come out and support the matches,” the release stated
