Hanoman is new GPHC board chairman

Dr Carl Max Hanoman was elected Chairman yesterday, when the new Board of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) was sworn in at the facility’s Resource Centre.

The other members are Col Patrick West, Cleopatra Barkoye, Collette Adams (Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health), Mandy Sukhdeo, Sonya Roopnauth and Kempton Alexander. Dr Sheik Amir and Allan Johnson are ex-officio members.

According to a GINA press release, after he was elected chairman, Dr Hanoman signalled that there would be a lot of changes at the facility. He said patient records would be computerized as a priority.

The release said he promised that patients would receive improved care and services and better attitudes from the staff, while expressing hope for cooperation among members.

Minister in the Ministry of Public Health, Dr Karen Cummings said she is expecting a lot of changes at the facility and that the public should, “expect great things,” according to the release. She further urged the board to monitor the progress of all undertakings and to ensure that while the standards are being improved, they are also maintained.
