A Number 77 Village, Corriverton man yesterday appeared in the Springlands Magistrate’s Court charged with murdering his reputed wife on March 8.
Ravindra Bandoo alias ‘Birdie,’ 29, was not required to plead when he appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh.
Bandoo, who was unrepresented by counsel, was accused of fatally wounding Indrawattie Somwar, called ‘Sharda,’ also of Number 77 Village.
In the dock, he stood expressionless whilst being questioned by the court, and responded, “I am a carpenter; have no children; living at the same place where the story happen,” when asked.
Thereafter, he was remanded to prison.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Godfrey Playter, said witnesses’ statements are currently being gathered as investigations continue.
Bandoo allegedly inflicted several fatal wounds on Somwar with a cutlass, as the world celebrated International Woman’s Day.
He is expected to return to court next month.
