Wicket-keeper/batsman Dexter Solomon scored a defiant 92 for the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) who played to a draw against the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) in the lone Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/GISE/Star Rentals/Trophy Stall first-division match played last weekend.
Contested at the GCC Bourda Ground, GDF, after resuming on 120-2 on the final day scored 348 all out in reply to the home team’s first innings tally of 246 which they made in 68.2 overs on Saturday.
Solomon, the Guyana Jaguars academy player, struck 11 fours and one six in his 92 while support came from Leon Andrews (57), Jeremiah Harris (52), Damien Whitney (29), Kevin Ramdeen (28) and Andre O’Neil (27), who helped stretch their first innings lead to 102.
Left-arm spinners Anthony Adams and Devon Lord picked up three wickets each for GCC who reached 92 for 4 batting a second time with contributions from Ronaldo AliMohamed (22), Deonarine Seegobin (22), Sachin Persaud (17) and Vishwanauth Ramlakhan (15), all of whom helped to steer their side to the draw.
On Saturday, off-spinner Damian Waldron (3-28) and medium-pacer Andre O’Neil (3-44), helped dismiss GCC for a total under 300 in their first innings.
The in-form AliMohamed continued his purple patch with the bat, hitting 84 with 11 fours and a six while other solid contributions came from pacer Martin Pestano-Bell (45), Seegobin (28), Adams (27) and Lord (25) which allowed the home team to post a decent total.
