The Number 52 Survival team won last Sunday’s Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) Under-16 tournament played at the 3 Doors Strikers Club court, D’Edward Village, West Coast Berbice.
Organized by the BVA, sponsored by the Port Mourant Training Centre Alumini (PMTC 1) and hosted by 3 Doors Strikers.
The one day tourney attracted five teams, Tain Humanitarian, Berbice High School (BHS), 3 Doors Strikers U16, Skeldon Jets and #52 Survival who whipped 3 Doors Strikers 30-25 in the final. Berbice High School (BHS) wrapped up their encounter with Tain Humanitarian 25-22 to secure third place.
An exhibition match featuring the BVA U19 team and the 3 Doors Strikers Senior Team was contested with the former emerging winners after disposing of their opponents three sets to nil (25-20, 25-16, 25-19) At the presentation ceremony President of the BVA, Levi Nedd thanked the participating teams, sponsors and hosts for making the venture a success. The tournament, he said, augurs well for volleyball in Berbice since he had been able to identify new blood which will be included in the BVA’s youth development programme.
Trophies and medals were also presented to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Andy Rohoman while Outstanding Player awards went to Renaldo Bobb of BHS, V. Dhanpat of 3 Doors Strikers and A. Khan of Skeldon Jets.
The BVA will next stage the Dhoray Electrical Trophy Open competition this Sunday at the Port Mourant Community Centre All Weather court.
