When the calendar flipped to 2016, the UG Wolves’ resolution was to win every local tournament they competed in.
On Saturday at the National Park, they were able to tick off the first one off their bucket list.
The student ruggers defeated the Yamaha Caribs, 32-15 to win the first tournament of the year, the GTT/Guyana Rugby Football Union 15s league.
Led by tournament MVP, Lance Adonis who scored two tries and two conversions, the wolf pack’s potent offence and saran wrap defence put paid to the efforts of the Caribs unit.
Adonis was backed up by Ryan Dey, Osei McKenzie, Rondel McArthur and Jamal Angus who chipped in with a try apiece.
After leading 12-10 at the half, the Wolves were able to pull away from the Caribs in the second half.
Theodore Henry, Walter George and Ian Jarvis were the players on the scoresheet for the Caribs.
