A delivery man was yesterday released on $75,000 bail after denying that he chopped a man who tried to break up a row he had with another man.
It is alleged that on February 28, at Georgetown, Wayne Abrahams, 34, of 43 Norton Street, unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Colwyn McNichol. Abrahams pleaded not guilty to the charge that was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones told the court that Abrahams and McNichol are known to each other. However, on the day in question Abrahams and another person were having an argument when McNichol intervened and was dealt a chop to his body with a cutlass.
Abraham’s bail was set at $75,000 by the Chief Magistrate, who also placed him on a bond to keep the peace until the conclusion of his trial. Abrahams will return to court on April 13, when the matter is due to be called for statements.
