Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum last evening confirmed that the suspect had been arrested and stated that he has been cooperating with the investigation to some extent.

According to Blanhum, a jeep was found abandoned yesterday at Nabaclis, and the suspect was apprehended moments after. At the time of the discovery, the original number plate of the vehicle was replaced with a cardboard bearing a fake registration number.

Blanhum said two other men were implicated in the crime and they are currently being pursued as the probe continues.

The suspect was expected to undergo a medical examination last evening since he has a number of visible scratch marks about his body. It is suspected that Breedy may have put up a fight.

Stabroek News understands that Breedy was killed on Saturday evening and not on Monday, when his body was found.

The lifeless body of Breedy was discovered around 11am on Monday in the bottom flat of his of Lot 67 Hillfoot, Soesdyke/ Linden Highway. His hands and feet were bound and his head was bashed in. A piece of wood suspected to be the murder weapon was found at the scene.

The police, in a press release, had said there were multiple injuries to his head, while the upper flat of his house was ransacked.

Breedy was last seen alive around 2pm on Saturday. A friend visited to take some fruits for him and found him lying motionless on the bottom flat with blood about his body. A bed sheet had been used to bind his hands and feet. There was no indication of forced entry into the house.

The body of Breedy is currently at the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour awaiting a post-mortem examination, which is scheduled for today.
