Lopsided encounter looms!

Holders Chase Academy will oppose South Ruimveldt while Queen’s College will lock horns with Lodge Secondary in the semi-finals of the 4th annual Milo Schools U20 football championship today at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

A look at the numbers highlight the fact that the champs have been a revelation in the event and are clear favourites to advance to their second consecutive final.

The statistics make for an ominous reading as they have recorded 26 goals in their five matches.

This equates to a 5.2 goal-to-game ratio, easily the best in the event by a considerable margin. On the defensive end, the Parade Street outfit has been equally formidable, with only one goal conceded.

Although it will be an uphill task for South Ruimveldt, the former losing finalist has made giant strides since entering the knockout round. Offensively they have scored 10 goals in their five fixtures.

However, a close look at the numbers illustrate that they have netted four times in the knockout round in the two matches.

Defensively, they have conceded four times in five matches. An improvement has also come in the fact that they have only conceded one goal in during the elimination round.

While the numbers of the feature contest envisages for a lopsided encounter, the opening semi-final at 16:00hrs is expected to be even tussle. The statistics in the matchup point to a slight advantage for the former winner Lodge Secondary.

Offensively, the Jamoon Street unit, following their quarter-final win over Dolphin Secondary via penalty kicks, has recorded 13 goals across five matches at a rate of 2.6 goals per game. Defensively, Lodge Secondary has conceded four times in their campaign.

On the other hand, Queen’s College will be confident of going one step forward after downing arch-rival Bishops’ High in the previous round.

From the attacking perspective, the Camp Road unit has recorded 11 goals thus far while their backline has been breached five times.
