The Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) yesterday said that it will write President David Granger over what it said was the “protracted delay” in the start of wage negotiations and over recent statements made by the Minister of Finance.
In a statement, the GPSU said that “Arising out of its growing concern over the protracted delay in the commencement of negotiations between the Government of Guyana and the …GPSU in the matter of public servants wages, salaries and allowances and the recent utterances of the Minister of Finance, Hon. Winston Jordan, the Union has dispatched a letter to His Excellency, President David Granger expressing its desire to commence negotiations soonest and indicating its displeasure with the recent public statements by the Minister on the matter of public servants salaries and allowances”.
Jordan on Tuesday said that public service workers should not expect big salary increases”.
Stabroek News had made several attempts earlier this year to find out from the GPSU whether wage negotiations had begun. The GPSU did not respond.
