The US Embassy, the British High Commission and the Canadian High Commission yesterday said that they believed that the voting and counting processes at Friday’s local government elections were “free, fair, and credible.”
“Our diplomatic observer teams, consisting of some ninety observers spread throughout nine regions, found nothing to question the integrity or credibility of the voting process,” the missions said in a joint statement.
“The Guyana Elections Commission has once again done a credible job in ensuring that this critical election day phase of the process was free and fair. We would like to congratulate Chairman Dr Steve Surujbally, Chief Election Officer Keith Lowenfield, and the Commissioners and staff of the Guyana Elections Commission for their successful organisation of these polls,” they added.
