Over the last two days, ranks of the Guyana Police Force arrested two men on separate occasions after they discovered two guns and a quantity of ammunition.
On Friday, according to a police press release, a search was conducted on a man at Hadfield Street, Georgetown and an unlicensed .45 pistol with 6 rounds of ammunition was discovered.
In a separate release, the police said that around 14:00 hrs yesterday, a search was conducted on a mining camp at Eyelash Backdam, Port Kaituma, North West District, during which an unlicensed 9 mm pistol with 12 rounds was found.
Additional information gathered by Stabroek News revealed that the unlicensed 9 mm pistol was found under a counter of the shop, which is reportedly owned by a Brazilian businessman of Port Kaituma Water front and Lot 6 Croal Street, Georgetown.
Both the men were arrested and are currently in police custody as investigations continues. They are likely to be charged soon.
