Dear Editor,
I am a regular visitor to the Amerindian Hostel in Princes Street Georgetown. I have some concerns which I think the relevant authorities should look into.
There are some shops across the road opposite the hostel that sell alcohol and cigarettes to what appear to be under-age youngsters. In front of the hostel there are a lot of hire cars and private cars. There are two private hire car drivers in particular who are often abusive to one another. They fight for passengers or space to park their cars. They both seem to get support from some staff members of the hostel to do business. Last week, one threw a stone at the other and nearly hit a lady. Many believe there needs to be more order around the hostel area.
There is a flagpole in the hostel compound with a Guyana flag, but many days they don’t raise the flag.
Let us all celebrate our 50th anniversary and raise our national flag daily.
Yours faithfully,
C Williams
