The three men held over the murder of Hill Foot farmer Anthony Breedy were yesterday charged with the crime and remanded to prison.
The three accused, Paul Goriah, also known as “John John,” 28, Donnel Trapp, also known as “Shortman,” 21, and Kiemo Corbin, also known as “Trini,” 18, all of Timehri appeared yesterday to answer the charge that they murdered Breedy between March 12 and March 14, at Hill Foot, Soesdyke, during the course of a robbery.
Goriah, Trapp and Corbin were not required to plead to the indictable charge, which was read to them by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown.
Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers told the court that the case file is incomplete since they are awaiting the post-mortem report and a few statements that are outstanding.
Goriah, Trapp and Corbin were all remanded to prison by the Chief Magistrate, who adjourned the matter until April 18 for report.
Breedy was found dead around 11 am last Monday in the bottom flat of his Lot 67 Hill Foot, Soesdyke/Linden Highway home. His hands and feet were bound and his head was bashed in. A piece of wood suspected to be the murder weapon was found at the scene.
A post-mortem examination performed on his remains revealed that he died as a result of asphyxia due to manual strangulation compounded by multiple blunt trauma to the head.
Last week Tuesday, Goriah, the prime suspect, was arrested at Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara moments after a stolen vehicle belonging to Breedy was recovered. The two other men were arrested on Thursday at Ithaca, West Bank Berbice. Among the items recovered by the police were a blood-stained shirt belonging to Goriah, Breedy’s cellphone and a few electrical items that were stolen from him.
